You get the inner packing of your Tenex surgery dressing removed of course. Well that's if you ruptured your Achilles tendon. Since I did rupture, I mean incur multiple micro-tears, I under went the Tenex procedure to repair them. Just in time for Fibromyalgia Awareness Day, the bulky inner packing was removed from my foot. I still have to wear the walking but for at least another week.
I decided to write an article on Fibromyalgia and Foot Pain for International FM Awareness Day. There are various foot problems that a person with Fibro might endure. I have been diagnosed with four of them; Plantar Fasciitis, Bone (Heel) Spurs, Ankle Fracture, Achilles Rupture/Micro-tears or Tendonitis. The one that occupies my mind right now is micro-tears/rupture of the Achilles tendon. So let's talk a little about the story of Achilles.
Do you know the Greek Myth about Achilles?
His father was a mortal king and his mother was a water goddess. Fearing her son’s death, Achilles’ mother would grasp him tightly by his ankles and dip him in the River Styx every night hoping to saturate him in immortality. However, by holding him by his ankles, the waters soaked every part of his body but his ankles. This led to his ankles being the most vulnerable part of his body. Achilles grew to be a mighty warrior. He was slain by an arrow dipped in poison hitting him in the back of his ankle.
Nowadays, when someone refers to a person having an Achilles heel, they are often discussing the apparent vulnerabilities of an otherwise strong or powerful person.
Anatomically, the Achilles tendon are subject to extreme pressure as they help support the body, and, absorb abuse.
