Who is an Advocate?
An advocate is someone who speaks on behalf of a specific person, group, or social, or, political cause. A Fibromyalgia advocate would be someone who speaks on behalf of either a specific person with Fibro or the Fibromyalgia community in general.

Who can be an Advocate?
​Anyone can be an advocate. Shelly McLaughlin of Pathfinders for Autism states, "an advocate is simply someone who is:

Committed to change;
-
Willing and able to publicly share their commitment;
and

Open to increasing their knowledge and understanding of an issue." (4)
