As of Friday, April 3rd, 2020, the CDC recommends wearing cloth face coverings in public settings where social distancing measures are difficult to maintain. Masks have been shown to slow the spread of the virus and help people who may have the virus and do not know it from transmitting it to other people. The CDC is NOT recommending surgical masks or N-95 respirators, those masks are critical supplies for healthcare workers and first responders. Masks should not be placed on a young child under the age of two years, anyone who has trouble breathing, or otherwise unable to remove the mask without assistance. CDC also advises homemade masks should be washed depending on the frequency of use and cleaned by a washing machine.
